Start of the Sweet Creek Trail
Mom and Dad starting the hike.
Tall trees
Some of the trees along the trail were very tall.
Very Green Ground Cover
The Oregon rain forest has an amazing variety of ground cover.
Trees for the Forest?
The mossy trees show an amazing side of God's Creation.
Cluster of Tall Trees
These trees reach far into the sky, too far for my camera to reach.
Dad and Mom Looking Up
Mom and Dad took some time to crane their necks to see the tops of the trees.
White Water in Sweet Creek
Sweet Creek is full of places that show off their stuff.
Sweet Creek Waterfall
This was the first waterfall we found on our hike. One of many.
Mom and Dad
Another shot of Mom and Dad. Dad ended up adjusting his pack a lot.
Camera Mom
I caught Mom with her camera out. Not that unusual.
Mossy Old Tom
This mossy old tree was a spectacular site. Made me think of Fagorn Forest in Lord of the Rings.
Teeny, Tiny, White, Flowers
These little white flowers were all over the place. They were small enough I had a hard time getting my camera to focus correctly.
More Waterfalls
This waterfall is another picturesque sight. One of many.
Feathery Waterfall
I experimented with leaving my shutter open long enough to get that feathery look that is popular with waterfall pics.
Close up of waterfall
Another feathery shot, this one required a lot of cropping to get it to look good.
Raised Trail
Part of Sweet Creek Trail was built onto this rocky wall.
Sunlight Through the Leaves
One of my favorite parts of hiking is seeing the sun shining through the leaves.
Waterfalls, Yet Again
There were lots of waterfalls, definently a good place to practice taking waterfall pictures.
Waterfall at Lunchtime
This is where we stopped for lunch. There was a nice rocky area to sit on, and I was able to set up my tripod for more pictures.
Feathery Waterfall, Again
Here is another attempt at that feathery look. I think it turned out ok.
Feathery Waterfall, Again, and Again
And again. That log adds some interest to the pic.
Feathery Waterfall, Again, and Again, and yet Again
This is one of my favorites. The many different places, and angles, water was falling is really neat.
Clear Water of Sweet Creek
Where the water wasn't white with turbulence, it was amazingly clear.
Lunchtime next to the Water
You can see where we had lunch in this shot. It was fun.
Close up of Centipede
As we were leaving the lunchtime waterfall, Dad spotted this insect. I tried to get some good macro shots, but this is the best I could do.
Waterfall around the Bend
We didn't walk the whole trail, but after lunch we hike around the next bend and spotted this one.
Waterfall of Ferns
Many different kinds of ferns grow in the Oregon forests, these somewhat resemble a waterfall. With some imagination.
